Dear social media experts, I appear to have been permanently banned from communicating with other users of a social networking website which is dear to me. The reason for this was given as “complaints of spamming from female users”. I wrote nothing offensive but naively sent a copy/paste message to I think about 15-20 females on this website expressing interest in chatting. It is not a dating website but one intended to facilitate cultural exchange and travel. I made no insinuations of a sexual nature. I am a 42 year old man. Many users of this website are young adults but all are over 18. I have paid an annual subscription to use this website. I live in Europe. I wish to dispute the ban because I do not think it is justified. I have taken note of their rule against sending copy/paste messages, which I do not recall being made explicit when I signed up. What are my options? I have tried repeatedly contacting their help-desk for assistance and to cordially reach an understanding about appropriate use of the website, to no avail. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
