So I’ve grown increasingly curious about the workings of this feature. Over the years I’ve read what seemed to be only speculative theories on the inner workings. When I come across the feature and see a few suggested friends, each with 30+ mutual friends, it makes sense that Facebook would assume I may know them. But often, the first person I’ll see on the list, will be someone from my area who I’ve never met, with only 1-2 mutual friends. And I’ll see this person at the top of the list repeatedly, over weeks, always followed by the more sensical suggestions with 30+ mutual friends. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
