I’m new to social media in general, especially instagram My account has 40 followers, all of whom are my close friends and I didnt really plan on building up on it But I see now that all of my friends have a range of followers from 200 to 2000, which is just surprising to me, because I feel like I havent even spoken 2000 people through out my entire life I keep my account private, but the people around me just let people they never even met follow them, or the people they feel like they have seen somewhere, I guess this is how they reach such high numbers Im keeping a low profile because I saw an article saying that to avoid depression obtained from social media, one must keep the account private, and only let people follow whom one actually knows who they are, and keep on deleting the people they havent spoken to for years This helps reduce envy, self hatred and stuff like that Do you agree with this method? because honestly I dont know The concern I have is that every time someone asks for my instagram account and sees that I only have 40 followers, they may think that I had social problems in the past, or I must be a lame dude for having few followers or sth like that W
