Hi all, I work in social media/digital communications and have worked for a range of clients for around three years. But I’m actually re-starting a food blog - for myself. I dipped my toes into the project last year, however, had a mental illness relapse so had to take some time out figuring things out. Now I’m ready to start for scratch (again) and hoping to get some insight. I live in Tasmania, Australia which is a food-rich, flavour-destination location; so I thought it would be perfect to easily grow a following based on Instagram (with a supporting blog - with the expectation of a low CTR). I got myself a good DSLR and started taking (IMO) really nice food photos, but my following has really dropped off. There are couple of reasons why I think this is happening: My following was 10 per cent larger when I posted a lot of photos of myself: my outfits with fashion hashtags; No clear brand identity: I tend to post things from all aspects of my life, the renovations of my first home, my cats, mental health updates, nature photos etc. So from this, and doing some research on and off Instagram, I’ve decided I’m going to get a tripod so that each food photos has a photo of myse

I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
