So I’m a videographer and as result of my job I’m going to have use social media. Now let me put it out there from the get go I hate social media but due to the nature of my job it’s now a necessary evil. One thing that always pisses me off on the rare times I use social media is the fake boring posts from people promoting there personal brand or business,so I’m coming with a strategy where I rant and rave like a grumpy old man about how I hate social media ,then in the same post promoting my content,to be ironic. I’ll also be open about the fact that I dont really know how to use social media,and aim to post comedic posts around this. The goal of this is to stand out from the crowd,entertain people enough to gain more follower/likes etc and improve the profitability of my business. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
