Good afternoon everyone, I have an account on Instagram, that has a audience of over 30k. It used to be very engaging, such as constant likes, comments, and followers. At some point, my number of visits dropped to a thousand-ish, until one day I got a notice from Instagram about a picture that had been reported as not following the terms, which I thought was a mistake. The picture wasn’t inappropriate at all. Anyhow, as soon as that happened I completely stopped getting any more followers as usual, and was only getting likes from My followers. I tried to use hashtags, but then realized my pictures wouldn’t show up on hashtags either, which is when I thought something was wrong. By doing some research about the issue I was running through, I found out that I was a victim of “shadowban”. While it was very challenging to get as many likes as I used to, I tried to keep posting no matter what. However, my insight looked terrible, visits dropped down to almost 200 and I went from being blown up to barely any notifications. It was a very stressful period. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
