Okay so this is a weird feeling I [F22] have with social media. I understand that a lot of posts on social media, especially instagram, are meant to show only a persons best characteristics. These can include a good figure or just a happy life in general. While I understand that this is mainly a facade and no ones life can be THIS good, it still somehow motivates me to do more for myself. Like, I myself know and understand that people only put the best versions of themselves online however I still find myself comparing myself to it. Let it be known that I am completely comfortable in my own skin. I can look at myself in a bikini and despite having gained some weight (5’2 150lbs), I can still say I’m overall happy with my body. So with that being said, is it really a bad thing that these unrealistic posts (I know all about filters and angles) make me want to change my choices to follow a more healthy lifestyle? I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
