I’m 19, I have a fairly large YouTube channel (not bragging even the slightest because my numbers are quite embarrassing compared to YouTubers with like 10mill subs)…. & I also will be attending college for Finance & Marketing in 2 weeks. I have so much free time on my hands and would love to jump into maybe starting a social media management agency and freelancing. I’ve seen a scary amount of people on this subreddit trying to jump into it as well. Does my background give me a leverage possibly? Most people that claimed they were gonna start a social media management agency or side-job never had anything to back themselves besides a personal snapchat with 300 viewers. I used to have a Twitter account with ~30k followers on it as well (connected to my YouTube). I hold my worth/value quite high and would probably charge about $2,000+ monthly per client. Depending on the business itself and the tasks wanted. So to the people who actually are in the social media management field and have had success, would clients come easier to me because of my background and experience or am I just simply reaching in the dark? I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
