I used to to be on Facebook, Instagram and every now and again Twitter and I loved it. I got Snapchat in August 2017 and it was my first proper account, but at the end of 2018 I remember hating the app and all the others. I decided to get rid of social media early in 2019 and I felt great but always seemed to think “oh it’s okay, I can be on there and limit my use and feel good”. I’m not addicted, but even just having the app on my phone makes me feel empty, even without using it. I feel like there’s a filter and everything goes grey. And I’m a jealous, angry bitter person when I have social media but without I’m peaceful and content and happy and kind. I want to get rid of social media forever this time, and spend the 2020s without it. Anyone else experiencing the same? We could message and send support and keep in contact to feel connected on the same journey. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
