This is probably the wrong sub for this… but I dunno what would be. ​ I’ve always struggled with the concept use of social media and how it has always made me feel more alone than I really am. ​ When I was younger, I had Facebook and that was the worst thing for my mental health. All of my friends would be together on some weekends and I would be the one who gets left out. I’d see my classmates wishing everyone a happy birthday except for me. I guess I didn’t realize, that when I was younger I was ‘that kid’. I also was made fun of in any picture cause I didn’t smile - I still can’t smile on demand for a picture (it looks awkward and creepy). ​ After my freshman year in high school, I decided to delete my facebook. It was so nice. I felt an immediate relief because that is one less thing that makes me feel like complete shit. At this point in time, I had moved to Instagram instead. I could control more of who saw my profile, let in only those I knew I trusted, etc. ​ Still though, I hadn’t quite actually said completely goodbye to social media, just Facebook. I have a dilemma I can’t wrap my head around and want some advice. I have a personal Instagram. Let’s call it JonDoe. It goes with my personal twitter/twitch/youtube. On it, I have mixed personal content and brand content as a streamer/youtuber. It’s all growing very well, and I have over 1k on insta, growing daily, but I want to rebrand my JonDoe account to my streamer brand, lets call it SillyGamerStuff and start posting more funny / on-brand content. I figured I’d just start a second account for JonDoe’s personal stuff, for family, friends, girlfriend, etc and run with the momentum on my main account, now named SillyGamerStuff (don’t eff with momentum, right?) My only hangup, is that I would basically lose all my personal history on my JonDoe -> now SillyGamerStuff. “lose” as in, all my personal stuff from before I started this online personality, from about 2 years back, so 5 years or so of history, would be buried under all the brand content.
